Abstract

To identify, design, and produce a component/system by the developed technology and to validate not only this technology but also the developed methodologies, a specific case study is developed in this chapter. The design for AM (DfAM) exploration is taken to the point of full optimization of a high-performance sports car rim. The mechanical requirements and the full-load conditions are described to the full extent, and ambitious weight reduction targets are defined. Key recommendations are provided for the core design methods and tools that are used.
