Abstract
In this section we will discuss the critical first 5 minutes of the care of the critically injured patient. This includes a smooth handoff of emergency medical services and communication of critical information. The ABCs of trauma care are reviewed as well as the urgent interventions that may be needed in the first 5 minutes of care.
