Abstract
Procedural sedation is an integral part of treatment in radiology and imaging settings. Its use has been fueled by increasing procedural complexities, advancing technologies, and patient comorbidities. It is imperative that advanced practice providers and leaders in these departments become intimately familiar with the processes that are necessary in providing sedation outside of operating room. These processes include patient selection, preprocedural assessments, minimal monitoring requirements, pharmacology, and training. A comprehensive understanding of these practices will ensure a safe and effective procedural sedation practice.
