Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of the paper is to determine the tendencies of healthcare and sports in the conditions of the Russian digital economy.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The authors use the method of regression analysis for studying the dependence of emergence of new diseases and popularity of sports activities among Russians on activity of usage of Internet and mobile communications. The information and empirical basis of the research is statistical materials of the Federal State Statistics Service and the results of a sociological survey that was conducted by RiaRating in 2018. The timeframe of the research is 2013–2018 and the forecast period of 2019–2022.
Findings: It is determines that in the conditions of the digital economy the disease rate increases – but not for all diseases. For example, there is no statistical connection between endocrine diseases, digestion disorders, and dysmetabolism with the usage of digital technologies. Usage of Internet stimulates the growth of nervous diseases rate and does not influence other diseases’ rates. Usage of mobile communications influences the population’s health in Russia to a larger extent, causing growth of disease rate of morbid growths and nervous system diseases and leading to reduction of disease rate of certain germ diseases, parasitical diseases, eye diseases, congenital anomalies (birth defects), deformations, and chromosome breakages. There’s also a sustainable and vivid connection between increase of activity of usage of mobile communications and growth of the share of Russian who play sports.
Originality/Value: It is substantiated that the tendencies of healthcare and sports in the conditions of the digital economy in Russia differ from the global tendencies that are noted by the World Health Organization.
