Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy

Abstract

The endoscopic third ventriculostomy is indicated mainly in obstructive hydrocephalus, being the treatment of choice for this disease in major neurosurgical centers worldwide. The Endoscopic Third Ventriculostomy Success Score (ETVSS) is the most widely used tool in predicting the successful chances of ETV, considering age, etiology of hydrocephalus, and previous shunt insertion. Choroid plexus coagulation is a promising technique for babies younger than 6 months.
