Ventricular Tachycardia in a Patient with Mitral Valve Prolapse

Cardiac Electrophysiology

Abstract

Malignant ventricular arrhythmias may occur in patients with mitral valve prolapse (MVP). In the MVP syndrome, particular myocardial structures are prone to develop replacement fibrosis, which creates a substrate for reentrant ventricular tachycardia (VT). Knowledge of these patterns of fibrosis may assist in mapping and ablation of VT in patients with MVP.
