Rapid On-site Evaluation (ROSE)

Abstract

Rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) is an important tool used by pathologists and cytotechnologists for evaluating the cellularity, in turn, the adequacy of fine needle aspiration smears, touch imprints of image-guided core biopsies, and intraoperative evaluation of bone and soft tissue samples. ROSE allows for increased diagnostic yield, preliminary diagnosis, and appropriate triage of specimen to facilitate a definitive diagnosis. Furthermore, ROSE is cost-effective.
