Abstract

With the rise of energy-intensive lifestyle, exploitation of Hydrocarbon has been the major focus for the development of nation. Shale oil is the substitute for conventional oil but if the cost is higher than conventional oil, it becomes uneconomical. Shale production is impacted by a number of factors such as political matters, war, social and economic aspect, exploration techniques etc. This chapter summarises the major challenges.
