Abstract
In the previous chapters the Saturn V rocket has been presented as the greatest technical triumph of the program. We have also been able to appreciate the exquisite design of the spacecraft carried aloft by the Saturn V: first the Command and Service Module (CSM) that led to the death of three astronauts in 1967 before it had ever been into space, and which when safely redesigned took the astronauts to and from the Moon and into orbit around the Moon; then the fragile-looking Lunar Module spacecraft, which actually touched down on the Moon’s surface providing a home for two astronauts for a day or so and then brought them back to the CSM waiting in orbit above.
