Résumé

La chirurgie dentaire, exigeante en matière d’éducation, requiert un curriculum nécessitant l’acquisition de compétences à la fois cliniques et techniques. En effet, contrairement aux études de médecine, l’odontologie amène l’étudiant à prodiguer des soins encadrés très tôt dans son cursus, dès le deuxième cycle, et il doit être prêt à la pratique clinique autonome au cours de son troisième cycle court (6e année). La durée de formation théorique est variable selon les pays et diversement répartie: soit la totalité des enseignements théoriques précède le début de la pratique clinique, soit ils sont répartis tout au long du cursus, la pratique clinique prenant une importance croissante au fur et à mesure des années.
