Résumé
Les deux fonctions principales du rachis cervical sont de porter et de positionner correctement la tête dans l’espace, permettant ainsi une exploration visuelle satisfaisante et d’autre part de convoyer et protéger la moelle, ses racines et la vascularisation artérielle du cerveau postérieur. Pour réaliser ces missions, la nature a doté le rachis cervical de particularités anatomiques et fonctionnelles multiples et variables selon l’étage, supérieur ou inférieur.
