Abstract
The evidence base for the pharmacological treatment of GAD is now substantial. However, there are few studies comparing treatments to inform rational choices either for GAD as a whole or for selective treatments for particular subgroups of GAD. The best guidance therefore comes from a careful analysis of the data from placebo-controlled studies that indicate the strengths and weaknesses of particular treatments.
