Abstract

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that produces demyelination and axonal/neuronal damage, resulting in characteristic multifocal lesions on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and a variety of neurologic manifestations (FigureĀ 1.1).
