Abstract

Here the simple diagnostic pathway is summarized, while considering the systemic diseases. A starting point is the recognition of the lead symptoms and syndromes which, individually, do not yet permit nosological classification but do encompass the entities that are to be taken into account. The list covers pivotal and discriminatory syndromes in stable combination, and potential diseases, which may pinpoint the further diagnostic options that still need to be investigated (Table 14.1).
