Abstract

For the purposes of nosological classification of CTD and vasculitis, it is imperative to use a comprehensive, general therapeutic approach, which extends far beyond the boundaries of one specialization, including all internal and other clinical specialties.12, 14, 15, 21 In principle, any clinical symptom of these non-rheumatic diseases, without exception, could equally be a symptom of CTD and/or vasculitis. This variety and vague specificity of symptoms consequently makes the diagnostic pathway from symptom to diagnosis more difficult. One route, presented in this book, is to construct diagnostic blocks, i.e., syndromes and correlate them to one another. At the same time, the causal, morphological, and immunological factors need to be considered.2
