Abstract

The research focusing on the neurobiology and clinics of pruritus is young but growing. As a consequence, most of the old terms and definitions currently used for different types of pruritus need to be redefined and approved by an international expert team. This is one aim of the Special Interest Group (SIG) of the International Forum for the Study of Itch (IFSI). Here we present the terms, definitions and classification that have been defined between 2005 and 2008.1-3
