Patient
This is a 53-year-old, asymptomatic, male patient. He was obese, and smoked 15 cigarettes a day. In recent blood analysis, a modest hypercholesterolemia (225 mg/dL, HDL-C 52, LDL-C 149) was documented. The family history was positive for systemic hypertension and ischemic heart disease. Patient participated in many leisure-time sport activities. In the last years, however, he spent progressively more time in non-competitive bicycle racing by training about 8 h a week.
