Abstract
Sometimes it is unnecessary or undesirable to permanently occlude a blood vessel. In these circumstances, using an agent which causes temporary vascular occlusion is preferable. On other occasions, the risk of a procedure may be reduced by using agents which cause only temporary vascular blockade. It must be recognized that although some of the agents described as “temporary” may be resorbed, their effects on the vascular endothelium may be irreversible.
