This chapter extends the concepts of Chap. 11 to include quantifiers and variables. After studying this material you should be able to:

Describe how truth functional logic differs from quantificational logic.

Describe and use well formed forms (wffs).

Describe and give examples of interpretations for wffs.

4.
Describe the conditions under which wffs are true or false for a given interpretation.

5.
Describe the conditions under which wffs are said to be logically true, logically contingent, or logically false.

6.
Use knowledge of the logical status of wffs to determine the logical status of statements expressed in ordinary English.
