Abstract
This chapter addresses psychological well-being in a sample of Puerto Rican students, parents, educators, and school-based support staff. The chapter begins with a comprehensive review of mental health issues and related services on the island. Next, methods and analyses of data collected with a sample of 41 Puerto Rican student participants, family members, and school personnel are discussed. Results define psychological well-being, psychologically healthy environments, stressors, and the roles of key adults. Conclusions address the clear and significant need for further psychological well-being supports for students ranging from 5 to 17 years of age on the island of Puerto Rico.
