Abstract
The modern interpretation of biofeedback is the technique of using electronic equipment to reveal instantaneously to patients and therapists particular physiological events and to teach the patients to control these otherwise involuntary events by manipulating the displayed signals (usually visual and/or acoustic). As it is now being practised, biofeedback is a scientific technique rather than a separate science but the basic concept has stimulated the beginnings of a probable revolution in medical science which encompasses both medical and paramedical approaches. This new approach is often termed behavioural medicine.
