Abstract

In this chapter, we’ll explore a few different ways to solve stiff ODEs. We will cover again how to employ the Euler, Runge-Kutta, and predictor-corrector methods. We will also use the Adams-Moulton methods and MATLAB’s built-in solvers, namely, ode15s, ode23s, ode23tb, ode45, and ode113, and then we’ll compare all of them to find the most efficient one in terms of accuracy and computation time. In many MATLAB references for very stiff ODEs, the solver ode15s is recommended. We’ll see if it’s the most efficient.
