Abstract
The Public Health Service uses at least 130 mechanisms to support a variety of research activities. It is important to match the mechanism to both the investigator and the study. The section entitled “mechanisms” in the Program Announcement (PA) will tell you which mechanisms can be used in responding to it. We will focus here primarily on those mechanisms used by the NIMH AIDS research program.
