Arctic and Alpine Mycology II

Part of the book series: Environmental Science Research ((ESRH,volume 34))

Abstract

A review of the families Agaricaceae, Amanitaceae, Boletaceae, Gomphidiaceae, Paxillaceae and Pluteaceae in Greenland is given. Among the 29 species recorded, three are new, viz. Amanita arctica Bas, Knudsen & Borgen sp. nov., A. groenlandica Knudsen & Borgen sp. nov. and A. mortenii Knudsen & Borgen sp. nov. 15 others are recorded as new to Greenland including some introduced boletes which only occur with planted conifers. Notes are given on the distribution of species in related areas. The Greenland flora is relatively poor compared to similar localities at the same latitude, probably due to the more unfavourable weather and the isolated position of this island.
