Abstract
The observation of fixed and sectioned material by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has become a routine extension of light-microscopic methodology. The superior resolution of the electron microscope has obvious advantages for correlative studies of structure and function at the macromolecular level. Modem preparative methods allow the use of a variety of ancillary techniques such as cytochemistry and electron-dense tracers, as well as simply viewing adjacent sections by TEM and light microscopy.
