Abstract
Software development is a highly labor-intensive activity. A large software project may involve hundreds of people and span many years. A project of this dimension can easily turn into chaos if proper management controls are not imposed. To complete the project successfully, the large workforce has to be properly organized so that the entire workforce is contributing effectively and efficiently the project. Proper management controls and checkpoints are required for effective project monitoring. Controlling the development, ensuring quality, satisfying the constraints of the selected process model all require careful management of the project.
