Abstract

One usually judges the effects of solution properties on crystal growth kinetics from the variation in the kinetic coefficient, e.g., from the adsorption of solvent on the crystal faces; but sometimes some features of the thermodynamics of the solution lead to a marked but neglected change in the crystallization driving force, which substantially affects the growth kinetics, as we shall show in relation to the growth of KC1 crystals on aqueous solutions.
