High Energy Electric Pulse Generation by Cumulative Explosion

  • Chapter
Megagauss Physics and Technology

Abstract

The pulse MHD generator working on detonation products which are formed at the detonation of gascumulative tubular explosive charges has been investigated. The measurements of velocity, electroconductivity and the efficiency of converting explosive energy to gascumulative jet kinetic energy have been carried out. The magnetic induction in the MHD channel was changed from 5 T to 25 T. The conversion efficiency of explosive energy to electrical energy achieved 5%. The ways of increasing the efficiency of converting chemical explosive energy to electromagnetic are discussed.
