Abstract
In Alabama and Georgia, as with most other States, the active organization and implementation of crop pest management systems has been carried out by the respective cooperative extension services. Relying upon base data collected and provided by their research counterparts, extension scientists have been charged with the responsibility of assimilating this information into a complete program that can be put to practical use by the grower. This often includes such diverse problems as refinement of survey techniques, definition of economic or action threshold levels, preparation and subsequent evolution of survey and reporting forms, training of survey personnel, and the intensive education of growers in the use of the various pest management tools.
