Abstract
The Persian walnut, Juglans regia L., is the most important member of its genus as a commercial nut producer. Fifteen species of walnuts are native to North, Central and South America, the West Indies, China, Japan, and the Middle East. Several of these species are valued for their wood while others act as rootstocks for Persian walnut varieties. None match the Persian walnut as a producer of edible nuts.
