Abstract
For a class of large-scale discrete event systems, the concept of ‘separability’ of a language plays a fundamental role in decentralized supervisory control. In this paper, we define separability of a predicate which is useful in decentralized state feedback control. We then investigate the relationship between separability of a predicate and separability of its corresponding legal language. We show that separability of a predicate is stronger than separability of its corresponding legal language. We also present a condition under which separability of a predicate is equivalent to separability of its corresponding legal language.
