Abstract
The CoCoMac database is a collation of published data from tracing and mapping experiments in the macaque brain. It contains detailed connectivity data (connection strength, laminar patterns, experimental methods) as well as information about the relations between areas in different brain maps. We currently provide information from more than 300 articles.
Here we introduce our new online interface (CoCoMac-Online), which is a powerful search tool providing systematic access to the collated information.
CoCoMac-Online presents the data from three points of view: literature, inter-map relations, and connectivity. The search can be carried out manually, and data are returned via e-mail or http protocol (e.g. in a web browser) in two formats (HTML and XML). In addition, we provide an interface for automated database queries, which is used by other applications, for example, graphical front-ends, mapping tools and modelling environments.
In this article we present the concepts and functionality of the text interface and demonstrate its practical use with walk-through examples for the literature access. Further documentation, search options and online access to the largest collation of primate connectivity data are available from www.cocomac.org
