Receptor Protection

  • Chapter
MTBE Remediation Handbook

Abstract

In its broadest sense, receptor protection includes the entire sequence of remediation activities following a release of gasoline containing MTBE. In this broad sense, receptor protection only ends when the release is remediated to concentrations that are protective of all receptors, considering all possible pathways that may impact those receptors. In this chapter, receptor protection will be considered in a narrower sense as one of the four major phases of response to a release of gasoline containing MTBE.
