Abstract
The subject of astroimaging is a popular and fascinating oneābut also one that is vast and in many aspects technically complex. Springer itself has published a number of entire volumes on the topic, several of which are referenced in this chapter. Here we provide mainly an overview of this modern instrumentation of interest to backyard observers, along with some general comments about various techniques used. Those wishing to go deeper into the subject should consult one or more of the references given below.
