Abstract
Technically, any object lying beyond the confines of our Solar System is a “deep-sky” object. However, here we reserve that category for such remote denizens of space as star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, which are covered as a separate class in Chap. 13. Observing data for many of the objects mentioned in both chapters will be found on the showpiece listing given in the Appendix 3 of this book, and also in the various star atlases and references mentioned in the text itself.
