Abstract
Oppression comes in a variety of shapes and sizes; oppressor can be divided from oppressed by race, gender, religion, or romantic preference, to name a few. In this chapter, I shall define the oppression of children by adults as a foundational form of oppression, one that most of us experience from both sides. I shall argue that coming to terms with our roles as both oppressed and oppressor is an important step toward understanding and fighting oppression.
