Abstract

Acquisition of high-quality laparoscopic images is a key to successful laparoscopic operation. The ability to transmit, transform, and archive these images is paramount to the advancement of laparoscopic surgery. This chapter outlines the basic principles of laparoscopic imaging and documentation. Scope systems, light transmission, cameras, monitors, video signal processing, and recording media are discussed. Technologic developments in laparoscopic imaging are incessant.
