Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to explain the difference between the so-called “biogas digesters” popular in the developing countries and the broader terms of “anaerobic digesters/reactors/fermenters.” The chapter also deals with the difference between “low-rate” and “high-rate” anaerobic systems, and describes the techniques with which the former can be converted to the latter.
