Abstract
Three forms of doctor–patient relationship are presented: the paternalistic model, the service or consumer model, and the partnership model. It depends on the patient, the situation, and the personality of the doctor which model he prefers. Advantages and disadvantages of each model are discussed. The partnership model requires the doctor to be highly flexible and to be able to listen.
