Abstract

This chapter contains 91 full-page color reproductions of important figures that have appeared earlier in this book. These plates have been computer-enhanced to improve their clarity and to make it easier for the reader to observe the fine details that are mentioned in the text and in the legend to each figure. Care has been taken to match the colors shown in these plates with those in the original prints from which they were photographed. Through these efforts, it is hoped that the reader will not only gain a better understanding of what the images are trying to convey but also of their beauty and artistry.
