Abstract
Achalasia. ESSENTIAL STEPS 1. Induce the pneumoperitoneum and place ports. 2. Place a liver retractor. 3. Incise the phrenoesophageal ligament; avoid injury to the anterior vagus. 4. Mobilize the anterior mediastinal attachments of the esophagus. 5. Perform a myotomy. 6. Check the distal esophagus for integrity and lack of spasm. 7. Perform a partial fundoplication.
