Abstract
The mechanical properties of glass-ceramics depend not only on the nature of the precipitated phases and the glassy matrix but also on the microstructure (texture) of the material. It is the aim of this paper to review:
-
a)
Experimental techniques available to characterise glassceramics; and,
-
b)
Theories correlating their mechanical strength and microstructure.
