Abstract
Regulatory agencies have recently been faced with the formidable problem of possible human exposure to complex mixtures of organic compounds such as those found in chemical wastes. For many of these compounds, toxicity data is either limited or completely unknown and standards may be impure or completely unavailable for testing. The problem is often compounded by the lack of a standard analytical method that provides adequate sensitivity (e.g., part-per-trillion) and accuracy.
