Abstract

Adhesion is essential in the structure of matter, in the living body and in mechanical and technological devices which enrich our lives. In a living body, many tissues are bound together through cell adhesion. Both normal and abnormal living processes are controlled by the biological adhesion. In medicine, surgical adhesives have been used to mend broken parts or to attach artificial materials to living organs.
