Abstract

Suppose that we can distinguish in our field of vision two groups of objects and that within each group the objects are either parallel or at right angles to each other, but that the two groups are inclined relative to each other. Then one group appears to be ‘dominant’, and we tend to regard it as the true Standard for determining horizontal and vertical directions.
