Abstract
The role of a psychiatrist or psychologist in chronic pain management is multiple. He or she must be a diagnostician, a pharmacologist, a soci?ologist, a psychotherapist, and, on occasion, a patient advocate. Therefore, by definition, the psy?chotherapist must have an eclectic orientation and be broadly schooled in all forms of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
