Abstract
It is well known that the intensity of any shock decreases during its motion through inert materials if it has no outside support. Behind the front of shock waves without support there is a rarefaction wave that leads to the material’s adiabatic cooling. However, as for explosives, the effect of a shock of any intensity results in their energy release just behind the shock wave front, the release favoring the wave support.
