Abstract
This chapter is meant to assist you in identifying and avoiding personal triggers, primarily by discussing the way triggers work. If you have suffered from painful migraines for very long, then probably you’ve already made at least a mental note of some of the things that you believe precipitate your attacks. Such precipitators are called triggers. More than sixty of these triggers, including some widely diverse agents and experiences, have been identified by migraineurs, but relatively little research has been done to investigate exactly how these factors may work to bring about migraine, or to try to determine which ones might have been identified mistakenly by migraineurs because of honest confusion between coincidence and cause.
