Abstract

For many centuries, headache sufferers and their physicians alike have wondered about what causes the strange sick-headache disorder we now call migraine. Apparently an ancient disease whose record is traceable into Babylonia and Egypt, migraine has long been depicted in popular and medical literature, as well as in art, as both fascinating and frustrating. Although much has been discovered about the malady over the centuries, particularly in the past few decades, certainly much remains to be learned, and even more to be completely understood.
