Abstract
This chapter is devoted to an in-depth explanation of the BANTAM Program Manager and how it may prove invaluable in the management of either individual or multiple projects deploying biometric technology. While, at the heart of BANTAM, there is a symbol notation which may be used for detailed application design and modelling, the BANTAM methodology actually goes much further than this. It provides a complete management system with standard documentation covering all levels of systems design, training, procurement, ongoing maintenance and more. BANTAM remains unique in its scope and application and has been used extensively over the years, particularly in an educational context. The BANTAM Program Manager software draws it all together and forms a catalyst for a brace of related activities. For this 2nd edition of Practical Biometrics, the software has been slightly revised and the new version may be freely downloaded from the Biometrics Research website. No implementing agency should be without the BANTAM methodology and associated software. It can provide the focus for programs of any scale and scope, across multiple domains and, thanks to the BANTAM notation, in any language.
